Ground Level Tree Assessments GLTAs

What is a Ground Level Tree Assessment

A Ground Level Tree Assessment known as a GLTA aims to classify the potential of a tree to support roosting bats. This is done from the ground and involves identifying potential roost features present in the stem and limbs of the tree. Examples of these include woodpecker holes, splits, cracks, or cavities to name a few.

If from the ground a feature appears to lead into a cavity suitable to house bats, then further survey methods need exploring. These can be emergence or re-entry surveys, but aerial tree climbing inspections are much more definite and efficient.

We are experienced Aerial Tree Roost surveyors so we are best placed to decide whether further survey effort is required. We can undertake these surveys swiftly and make recommendations in the form of a report detailing findings.

Who could benefit from a GLTA

Our Ground Level Tree Assessment (GLTA) service can be invaluable for developments requiring tree removal to accommodate construction projects such as:

  • Buildings
  • Highways
  • Underground infrastructure like pipes or cabling.

Why choose us

Our expertise allows us to accurately identify features requiring further investigation, avoiding unnecessary aerial assessments often recommended by less experienced ecologists. This efficiency reduces wasted time and ensures projects proceed without delays, all while maintaining strict compliance with ecological standards.
